Applying for: Phlebotomist (Full Time, M-F, 10:30am-7pm)

Position Summary

Phlebotomist primary responsibility is to collect and to process blood/blood specimens necessary for diagnostic testing purposes. This individual must be able to interact with patients, physicians and other hospital personnel in a courteous manner, participate in the orientation of new phlebotomy personnel, promotes teamwork, positive attitude, initiative, and professionalism in accordance to the mission, vision and values of Chicot Memorial Medical Center. 

Education   

 High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience 

 A minimum of one years experience in a hospital or clinic-based laboratory preferred.

Required Registration License/Certification

ASCP registry or equivalent.

Specific Skills
  • Knowledgeable in all aspect of phlebotomy, guidelines and state, local and federal regulations
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of computer systems such as LIS, HIS, EMR, Windows, and Windows applications
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate fluently in English
  • Able to function independently
  • Communicate in written form – email, letters, memorandums
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all information
  • Ability to multi- task; ability to deal with multiple interruptions
  • Ability to manage stressful situations
  • Team player; able to get along well with coworkers

Physical Requirements 

  • Occasional prolonged standing/walking
  • Occasionally lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers up to 50 pounds.
  • Some reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less and color vision
  • Depth perception: ability to judge distance and space relationships
  • Accommodation: ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus

  • Exposed to potential infectious and disease bearing specimens
  • Exposure to the risk of blood borne disease

  • Clinical equipment including all currently used Laboratory analyzers equipment and devices.
