Mrs. Louise Mazzanti (left) came to our swing bed program after a broken pelvis left her unable to stand, let alone walk. She spent the next 5 weeks working with therapy, nursing and our entire team, making incredible progress, step by step. The day before her discharge we were honored to celebrate her 100th birthday with a party surrounded by family, friends and staff. She was not only able to walk again, but she was able to dance at her party! She reminded us that perseverance and most of all joy, have no age limit. We are so proud to have been part of her journey and grateful for the opportunity to care for such a remarkable patient!

What is our Swing Bed Program?
Our Silver Linings Swing Bed Program is designed to help you recover after being in the hospital for a serious illness or surgery and we provide care and rehabilitation to help you get better before returning home. Typically, patients stay in the program for 21 days or less.
The program is specifically for patients who still need a lot of help to recover but don’t require the high-level medical care of a regular hospital anymore. Nurses and therapists provide various types of care, such as helping patients walk again or doing exercises to build strength.
We work with your insurance company to help cover the costs, ensuring the financial aspect is managed smoothly.
Our program may be right for you if you cannot receive the necessary care at home or if your condition no longer requires a stay in an acute care hospital. The main goal of the program is to help you improve your health so you can safely return to your home environment.
Pictured is Mr. Danny Aaron from Lake Village, AR who was hospitalized for a severe illness. When it came time for discharge, he was not strong enough to go home at that point and was offered an admission to our Silver Linings Swing Bed Program.
After several days in our program, he was able to get the specialized services needed for his health to be restored to his pre-illness level. Those services included: Case Management, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing & Nursing Aides, Dietary Support, Physician, & Respiratory Therapy
He is now home with his family and had this to say about our program, “I’m very thankful for Chicot Memorial’s Swing Bed services and all of the therapists and nurses and other staff involved in my care. If it wasn’t for them, I may not be able to sit outside on the tailgate of my truck and enjoy each day.”
